Ernest Sanchez
Ernest T. Sanchez has been practicing entertainment and communications law in Washington, D.C., for thirty years, with particular emphasis on media and information distribution technologies. Mr. Sanchez represents a wide range of clients including public broadcasters, international news gathering organizations, media content producers and distributors.
Among his many publications, Mr. Sanchez is the co-author of Current Developments in Direct Broadcast Satellites and the author of A Preliminary Legal Road Map for International Satellite Based Education Projects and Program Self Distribution by Satellite: Some Key Practical and Legal Considerations.
Highlights of Sanchez' early career: from 1974 to 1981 Sanchez served as Secretary and General Counsel of National Public Radio. At NPR Sanchez had responsibility for overseeing the network's legal activities including the negotiation of all program acquisition, production, talent and collective bargaining agreements, besides representing NPR before courts and administrative agencies with emphasis on the Federal Communications Commission and the Copyright Royalty Tribunal. From 1973 to 1974, Mr. Sanchez was an attorney for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, where he was involved in a broad range of legal and funding contractual matters Mr. Sanchez has written and lectured extensively on communications subjects including communications regulation, satellites, cable television, copyright issues, conventional broadcasting and emerging communication technologies.
